Breif History
The castle was built in 1138 by Henri de Blois, the gandson of William the Conqueror. It then became home to the Bishops of Winchester for over 800 years. The castle has had many royal visitors over the years including, Henry VII, Henry VIII, Elizabeth I and King John and is one of Britain's most important historical buildings. It has seen many historical events such as the Civil War and WWII and is now used as a venue to host weddings.
Sightings
The castle is now home to many various paranormal visitors. There have been sightings of young children playing and laughing on the castle balcony and in the halls. There is a shadowy figure lurking in the guardroom. The wine cellar is known for having a solider who had been shot in the face, visitors who have gone down there have experienced face ache, supposedly because of this spirit. A young girl can be seen dancing at the top of the stairs where once she had apparently fallen down and died. Finally one of the security members stated hearing a voice talking from the great hall when he went to investigate there was no one to be seen but he still heard the voice (louder on one side of the room). While leaving the castle he felt someone watching him until he felt a hand grab his shoulder, when he turned there was nobody around.
